About Maria
Sometimes in life, experiences happen to us which are difficult to process. These past experiences can sometimes affect us now in our lives and also in the relationships with ourselves and others.

The idea of Psychodynamic counselling, and the way Maria works, is to talk and explore your thoughts and feelings together in a safe space. This helps to gain insight, knowledge and understanding into what is going on for you at a deeper less conscious level. 

If you decide to come for counselling the sessions will be held in a quiet, comfortable room at The Coastal Practice in the Hengistbury Head area. Your counselling with Maria will take place once weekly at the same time each week.

Experience
Maria is an experienced and fully qualified Psychodynamic counsellor and holds registered membership with the BACP. 

Maria began her training whilst working for a charity which provided open ended counselling with adults. This experience extended to then working with youths aged 14 years and above and often involved working with the client on more of a short term basis. Maria has worked with people experiencing a range of issues such as anxiety, low mood, trauma, adoption, abuse, anger, suicidal thoughts and issues around eating.

Professional & academic qualifications

• BACP/WPF Accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
• BACP – Accredited WPF Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling Theory and Skills.
• Certificate in Assessment training -Alton Counselling service.
• BA (Illustration.)
• Perinatal and infant mental health awareness training- IHV (Institute of Health Visiting)
• Introduction to Counselling Young People Alton Counselling (BPC/BACP accredited organisation.)

Registration/accreditation
British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) registered and accredited.
