Portia works integratively which means she draws from a number of different theoretical approaches as well as her own experience to inform her work and meet the needs of the individual client. She believes that the relationship between therapist and client is central to the healing process and that being heard without judgement in a confidential space can be a powerful and transformative experience.

She offers short and long term counselling.

Experience

In addition to working in private practice, Portia is an academic lecturer and tutor at the Metanoia Institute. She worked for Counselling Information Trust, a low-cost counselling service in Poole. She has helped people with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, bereavement, abuse, family problems, relationships and life crises. Portia also specialises in maternal mental health.
